15 + Amazing and Comical Pictures of the Comedy Wildlife Category Awards for 2020 that Will Brighten Your Day Up

The Comedy Wildlife Category Awards, founded by Paul Joynson-Hicks and Tom Sullan, is a photography competition in which anybody can submit their comical shots of nature’s wildlife.

Wildlife has a strong connection with nature as they can’t live without it, as well as “human.” It’s a haven for them, and they will be able to continue their lives with no human intervention.

The earth is such an amazing place that provides anything for their needs. People may not really pay attention that wildlife can sometimes act like a human. They eat, sleep, and talk just like us.

They would often be captured teasing one another when they are in the mood to play. This results in such an epic collection of photos that these dedicated photographers from around the world would like you to see them.

Here are some of the best shots of the Comedy Wildlife Category Awards of 2020 that will make your day. Enjoy!

Overall Winner

1. Terry the Turtle Flipping the Bird

‘Terry the turtle flipping the bird’ by Mark Fitzpatrick has been declared to be the overall winner in the contest, beating 7000 other shots.

Terry was photographed with such a pose that looked as though he was actually flipping the bird when swimming at Lady Elliot Island in Queensland, Australia.

Mark was at the right moment when the turtle was pulling his flipper back while swimming towards the camera. He managed to secure the moment that later led him to win this year’s Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards.

Category Winners

2. Almost Time to Get Up

Charlie Davidson took this picture of a raccoon getting stuck on a tree or it was actually trying to get up. The shot was in a list of category winners including other incredible photos below.

3. Hide and Seek

Tim Hearn caught the picture of this azure creature that was rather shy and timid toward human’s presence. But that’s what makes this picture simply wonderful.

4. O Sole Mio

Roland Kranitz said “It’s like he was just singing to me. She had a very nice voice.”

Yeah, she really looked like a diva while performing on the stage with such an expression.

5. I’ve Got You This Time

African cubs played at a termite mound. The picture taken by Olin Rogers would always remind you of what sibling rivalry is.

6. Deadly Fart

Daisy Gilardini had an amazing shot, showing a brown bear lifting and smelling its leg after breaking wind. The bear apparently couldn’t stand its own fart and then faint.

Highly Commended Winners

7. Smiley

This friendly parrot fish seemed very happy with a smile on his face in this photo. Arthur Telle Thiemenn captured it at El Hierro, Canary Islands.

8. Tough Negotiations

The title can really explain what was happening between these two creatures. A fox cub was having a serious conversation with a shrew. It probably asked the cub to spare its life at the time.

9. Seriously, Would You Share Some?

These Atlantic Puffins resemble kids in every home when they see their friends or sibling bring food. Krisztina Scheeff was just lucky to be able to catch this lovely image.

10. I had to Stay Late at Work

Look at these tow pals with their expressions. They are hilarious. Luis Burgueno took the picture of South sea elephants in Patagonia. Can you guess what they were talking about?

11. Monkey Business

What’s going there? These guys were caught red-handed. Photographer Megan Lorenz was on a trip to Borneo and she encountered these pig-tailed Macaques in such an epic moment.

12. Social Distance, Please!

Petr Sochman showed this image in the contest. It can be seen that these birds were following the protocol by not standing too close to each other.

13. It’s a Mocking Bird

The “No Fishing” sign is crystal clear, but the bird didn’t really care about it. Sally Lloyd-Jones presented this shot for you.

14. Sun Salutation Class

Look at this sea lion enjoys relaxing under the sun. Sue Hollis was behind this shot of the creature that was practicing yoga.

15. Fun for All Ages

Langurs were having fun on a tree in this photo taken by Thomas Vijayan. The small one loved to swing on others’ tails.

16. The Race

Photographer Yevhen Samuchenko was very careful when taking this image as he didn’t want to scare these langurs. It was taken in a small town in Hampi, India.

The news was announced and live-streamed on Instagram by the Comedy Wildlife Team on Tuesday evening, and Mark’s Turtle flipping the bird came as Overall Winner.

“It's been amazing to see the reaction to my photo of Terry the Turtle flipping the bird, with Terry giving people a laugh in what has been a difficult year for many, as well as helping spread an important conservation message.

Hopefully, Terry the Turtle can encourage more people to take a moment and think about how much our incredible wildlife depends on us and what we can do to help them. Flippers crossed that this award puts Terry in a better mood the next time I see him at Lady Elliot Island!” he said, according to Boredpanda

The Winner, Mark Fitzpatrick, stated that he was “stoked and honored” to be awarded the Comedy Wildlife Photographer of the Year title for 2020. He won a once in a lifetime safari in the Masai Mara, in Kenya, with Alex Walker’s Serian.

Mark also received other wonderful gifts by winning the competition including a trophy, a photography bag from Think Tank, and a brand new Nikon camera.

Congratulations to all winners! We’re looking forward to seeing your incredible as well as comical pictures next year!
